Hi everyone, here’s the latest update on our campaign to save the Berney Arms.
In September, our application was approved by the Financial Conduct Authority and ‘The Berney Arms Inn Community Pub Limited’ Community Benefit Society was born.
This is great news as we now have legal standing similar to a company and we’ll be able to do things like open a bank account and apply for funding.
Your chance to own a share
Now we’re official it means we can launch our Community Shares offer to all members of our community who would like to invest in the pub. We’re working on this right now and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready to launch. If you’re interested, or know someone who is, sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know when the share offer goes live.
Roles on the management committee
We’ve got five members on our committee at the moment, with a wide range of skills and experience. We want to add to the committee and we’d like to hear from anyone who is interested and based in the Norfolk area.
We’re looking for people with ideas and enthusiasm, with spare time to dedicate to come to meetings and help with the tasks needed to get us up and running. If that sounds like you, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our friends at Fosters
Fosters Solicitors in Norwich are providing legal support as we negotiate the purchase of the pub. They have very kindly agreed to offer us their services free of charge, which is fantastic news and will really help us during this early phase where we have no money coming in.
If you’ve got any questions, please get in touch with us. As always, we really appreciate your support.
